World’s Biggest Lantern Festival in Chuncheon

It has just come to my attention that the biggest lantern festival in the world was held in my old place of residence and favourite Korean city Chuncheon. Over 125,000 lanterns were lit at Hyonji Temple in honour of Buddha’s Birthday. There was a huge ceremony involving many Buddhist monks, watched by huge crowds.

I’m very sorry to have missed this amazing event that is sure to have attracted many visitors to the quaint and beautiful mountain town that I so love and miss.  I hope and am sure that a wonderful and spiritual time was had by all.
